But making it so that I am forced to have Premium activate at least once when I downloaded the Free version is a deceptive practice. With a background in marketing and statistics, I am almost certain this is based on market projections that the more people who try the Premium the more will stick with it, which is, of course, how Malwarebytes makes their money allowing them to even provide a Free version. That is remarkable in my opinion because I have found most antivirus security programs tend to lean more one way or the other but Malwarebytes seems to be the most accommodating to both sides I have ever seen so far in its design. Ultimately, I am very satisfied with this product and would recommend it to anyone whether you be an advanced computer user or a much more basic user it will work well for you. It has enough for me to consider reasonable and to be content with what I can customize including more important features like the automatic scanning schedule, permissions, and what it's supposed to do with PUPs when discovered. I sometimes wish the interface was a bit more expansive and provided more detailed menus but I can understand it is probably hard for the developers to strike that perfect balance of user-friendly simplicity with advanced custom settings that more advanced users like myself enjoy. While most reviews I have read praises the program's interface highly as being very user-friendly, which I would generally agree, I have gotten mildly frustrated with it a few times when trying to find specific features (then again, I personally like to tinker with programs so that may just be me).Īlso with the interface, it at times seems somewhat limited in advanced settings for those who like to customize the security settings in detail but I quickly learned to live with it and I can't complain about its results, regardless. Typically, full system antivirus scanning will plummet your computer's performance for the duration of the scan, but, somehow, Malwarebytes manages to do it without hogging the CPU while still being thorough which I think is incredible. Not only did it manage to find a shocking amount of malware and successfully remove it all, it also did it quickly and without sapping all of my system's processing power which impressed me.
The main selling point for me was the original purpose I got it for which was to scan my computer and remove the malware which was found surprisingly a lot (I'm sort of embarrassed to say.). Additionally, if you are more like me and practically lives on computers it is still great because you also have options to be more involved in its advanced operating settings as well if you choose (if you don't want to do that then you can just leave all the options on default which are all immediately set to the generally recommended settings).Īs for the quality of the protection and antivirus capabilities, it is highly effective based on my experience so far. If you are not the most computer-savvy person and looking for something that appears simple to use and largely manages itself then Malwarebytes is great.
